Soho Riot starts 23rd August with Mark Sloper and Henry Hate

Fleek Gallery, Ilfracombe, North Devon, 12th August 2019A tattoo artist who worked on Amy Winehouse and a filmmaker who counts members of the Sex Pistols among his friends have picked Fleek Gallery in Ilfracombe to feature their first touring joint exhibition.
‘Soho Riot’ will be on display in Fleek Gallery from Friday 23rd August (Private View 6 - 9pm) until the 22nd September 2019.
Former addict Henry learned to ink tattoos in Los Angeles, having grown tired of life doing the hair and make-up on adult movies and music videos.  Now based in Bermondsy his tattoos have graced the bodies of Amy Winehouse, Alexander McQueen, Boy George and Pete Doherty.  In his artwork, his colourful montages of characters like 50s pin-up Bettie Page, Marilyn Monroe, the Queen and Winehouse herself, are inspired by both pop art and modern urban art.
Artist Mark Sloper (Illuminati Neon) has made Sex Pistols documentaries for Sky and is good friends with the band’s drummer Paul Cook.  He also made videos for The Damned and as a kid was a mascot for Adam and the Ants.  He now fashions neon lights in his Shepherds Bush studio into punk rock artworks using the Anarchy sign and statements such as “Weapons of Mass Distraction” with images of the Royal family, Margaret Thatcher and the Union flag.  Danny Dyer is said to be a fan.
Both men share the same punk ethic and met through a group of like-minded artists called ASS – Art Society Soho.  They describe their first joint exhibition as a “dirty nasty lowdown rock’n’roll art tour” which will also be heading to Windsor, Edinburgh, London and beyond.
